The Teachers’ Aquatics Guide (TAG) includes the criteria required to test Scottish Swimming’s complete range of exciting and progressive Programmes and Awards.
The Programmes and Awards have all been developed in line with Scottish Swimming’s Swimmer Pathway and are designed to encourage all children and non swimmers to learn to swim and to develop their skills, so that they can take part in a range of competitive aquatic activities, including swimming, diving, sychronised swimming, water polo and lifesaving.
The TAG includes the following Programmes and Awards:
• Adult & Child
• Learn to Swim
• National Schools Swimming Award
There are also a number of complementary Awards available that are essential for building on both swimming and life skills that can be taught alongside the Scottish Swimming Learn to Swim programme.
Once the swimming teacher has assessed their swimmers, those who have achieved the required criteria, are eligible to receive the appropriate Award, which comprise a woven cloth badge and a full colour A4 certificate.
These attractive Awards are a great way to motivate and encourage the development of swimmers with the help of Splish and Splash, our Awards Scheme mascots.
The Awards are also a great way to keep parents up to date on their child’s progress. On page 2 is a diagram ‘The Aquatics Programme Guide’ which shows the relationship and progression of each programme.
