Distance

Based on the FUNdamentals of Learn to Swim, these awards are aimed at children of 2 years and older, and are a natural progression from the skills learned in the Adult and Child and/or the ‘AquaFun’ ranges.

A frequently asked question is - Must they be swum in good style? This is the only series of awards in the Kellogg’s Scottish Swimming Awards Scheme which is designed to motivate towards swimming longer distances.

We aim to ensure that children learn good technique first and foremost. For distances of 25m and above, the strokes should be recognisable as one of the four competitive strokes, however they need not meet the level expected by FINA law. The crucial factors here, are that the swim is continuous, enjoyable and stress free.
