Pre Club Development

These awards are designed to gently introduce the young swimmer to competitive swimming, not too pressured but refining skills andstrokes to achieve an efficient technique.

They lay the foundationsfor those who might want to attend the coaching and trainingprogrammes which would prepare them for competitive swimming. 

 

 

Safe Start Award
It is imperative that swimmers can demonstrate shallow racing dive competence before being permitted to dive into shallow water i.e. water depth between 0.9m and 1.3m. Scottish Swimming’s recommendation is that proficiency should be demonstrated by achieving the criteria outlined in the Safe Start Award. On completion, a Kellogg’s Scottish Swimming Award (certificate only) is available to reward the swimmer’s achievement.

Super Start Award
Once swimmers have mastered the skills in the Safe Start Award, theycan progress to the Super Award, which teaches safe racing starts intoshallow water from a starting block and a variety of starting techniques.

On completion a Kellogg’s Scottish Swimming Award (certificate only)is available to reward the swimmer’s achievement.Competitive Edge Awards.

These awards are designed to assist with stroke development, kicking,turns and timing. When the quality of stroke and technique has been achieved, the final stages introduce the more challenging element of trainingdevelopment and can be undertaken with self-belief, thus enabling thosewho want to enter swimming competitions to do so – and to be successful!On completion of each stage, a Kellogg’s Scottish Swimming Award (certificate only) is available to reward the swimmer’s achievement.
