Masters swimming is a discipline of swimming for the over 19s. It is not just for champions, ex-champions or soon to be champions. It’s a great way to socialise and keep fit and most of all have fun. Masters swimming is becoming more and more popular as health and fitness conscientiousness is on the rise.
Masters swimming can be done at any level, whether you just fancy a quick dip in the pool, an afternoon with good company or the thrill of a competition. Masters swimming is a great way to relax and have a good time as well as an effective way to keep yourself in shape.
Competitions are available to all registered masters swimmers and for most events you don’t even have to worry about qualifying times. It’s a great way to gain experience swimming in a competition environment and trying out your techniques. Although... if you are looking for something more competitive there’s always European and World events.
To take part in masters swimming you will need to find and join your local swimming club. Some Scottish swimming clubs have Masters specific sections to cater for any age and/or ability and some swimming clubs are dedicated to Masters alone. Once you have joined your club you will be asked to join Scottish Swimming and be registered as a member. To do this, or to see how to do this please click here...
