JOB DESCRIPTION
Banchory Beavers ASC is a competitive swimming club based in Banchory, Aberdeenshire, approximately 20 miles from Aberdeen. Banchory Beavers is one of the four member clubs of South Aberdeenshire Swimming (SAS), which offers a common framework and programme for swimmer development and competes as a composite club at National and International meets. We have 27 hours of pool time used to develop swimmers from learn to swim to national levels. We have approximately 300 members encompassing 65 in the Competitive Section (to age 17) and 235 in the Teaching Section.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Head Coach who will have the necessary skills to co-ordinate and oversee the teaching and coaching of all our swimmers, which will allow us to build on our success and move us to the next level. The successful applicant will be expected to direct a team of voluntary coaches as well as personally coach the top Squad for approximately 11 hours per week.
We are progressing towards SwiMark accreditation and the Head Coach will play
an active role to develop this further. Candidates should hold or be willing to work towards an ASA Club Coach / Level 3 Coaching qualification and have relevant coaching experience.
Good communication and leadership skills as well as the ability to work as a team member are essential.
The main duties will include:
· To develop, organise, implement and co-ordinate the entire club’s coaching and teaching programme to ensure all swimmers are given the opportunity to maximise their potential
· To actively participate in the further development of South Aberdeenshire Swimming and to be involved in the coaching of the SAS squads drawn from the four member clubs
· Personal coaching of the Banchory Beavers top squads to prepare swimmers for County, District and National competitions.
· Development of club within SwiMark guidelines to ensure continued success as a Competitive swimming club at all levels and ensure continued introduction of competitive swimmers from learner groups.
· To effectively lead, develop and mentor the existing team of voluntary Coaches, teachers and poolside assistants and to ensure that they are effective and kept up to date with developments in swimming.
· Arranging and attending major competitions and open meets to support club swimmers.
· Hold regular meetings with swimmers and parents to guide swimmers development.
· To keep the Committee informed of planned activities and report on progress.
· Liaise with the other member clubs of South Aberdeenshire Swimming (www.southaberdeenshireswimming.org)

British Swimming is the National Governing Body for Swimming and its associated disciplines in Great Britain with its headquarters situated in the centre of Loughborough.
The Chairman of the Jury of Appeal at British Swimming events is drawn from a panel of volunteers from all disciplines and all Home Countries.
Panel members are appointed for a two year term.
Those appointed to the panel will be required to demonstrate sound judgement and hold an official qualification in one or more of the aquatic disciplines. A thorough understanding of the technical rules of sport and in particular the inter relationship between the technical rules and disciplinary rules of British Swimming and FINA would be an advantage.

03/04/2008 Executive Officer, Performance - Scottish Swimming
Executive Officer Performance (Full-time)
Circa £18,000 plus 4% pension.
As an experienced Executive Officer you will provide support to the Performance Team and be vital to the effective administration of the department.
You will also support the Director of Performance in the organisation of Performance Weekends, Training Camps and International Competition, along with the implementation of selections for all National Squads. Previous experience in a similar position is therefore, essential due to the important nature of this demanding role.
You will be a key player in the organisation and effective running of Performance and Technical meetings. Previous experience at such meetings is vital as you accurately and confidently minute discussions, ensuring all salient points and actions are recorded and distributed in a timely manner.
Your expertise with IT packages will be paramount to your success in this role, with experience of Microsoft Office essential and a working knowledge of databases beneficial.
The experience you have gained through working in a membership or voluntary organisation would be an advantage, although your strong communication and organisational skills, ability to effectively manage your time together with a positive attitude would ensure you excelled in this role.

You will have a minimum of three years relevant experience.

PART TIME HEAD SWIMMING COACH
Location: Tranent, East Lothian (on the outskirts of Edinburgh)
Salary: Package according to qualification and experience
Contract: Part Time, Self Employed
Tranent ASC (TASC) is actively seeking a committed, enthusiastic and suitably qualified Head Coach. The club is a competitive swimming club with approximately 100 swimmers in 4 squads ranging from age 6 to 17. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a long-term coaching plan, devising and developing individual training programmes and promoting swimming within the club to the highest standards.
Applicants should:
- Deliver long-term coaching plan in accordance with LTAD and the criteria for the squad/swimmer.
- Attend committee meetings to give coaching reports.
- Be responsible for a team of volunteer coaches and helpers.
- Organise monthly coaching meetings.
- Attend appropriate training courses (including UKCC Level 3) and CPD.
- Follow Scottish Swimming’s child protection policy.
- Be aware of the Emergency Action Plans and Normal Operating Procedures of the facilities used by the Club.
- Communicate with East Lothian Swimming Squad coaches and attend meetings as required.
- Plan and select swimmers for competition.
- Attendance at swimming galas.
- Run/attend regular time-trials and friendly novice gala’s with local clubs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of LTAD and technical swimming knowledge appropriate to qualification level.
- Good time management and ability to use time efficiently and effectively
- Ability to motivate swimmers, volunteer coaches and helpers
- Enjoy working with children and young adults.
Essential:
- ASA Level 2 (with module 4) or UKCC Level 2 or ASA Club Coach.
- Scottish Swimming Protecting Children Course.
- IOS Membership.
- Competitive swimming experience.
Desirable:
- UKCC Level 3 or be prepared to begin course at first opportunity.
- First Aid Qualification (e.g. St John’s Ambulance).
- RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches
- Licensed.
Time commitment:
Minimum 9 hours per week coaching, plus regular attendance at weekend galas and some administration work.
