Records Continue to Fall at Age Group Championships

Katie Robertson, South Ayrshire Swim Team, secured her second breaststroke victory of the meet, the latest victory coming in her strongest of the distances, the 200m. Not only was her time of 2:31.83 a new Scottish Age Group Record (15yrs), it also dipped under the consideration time for the Commonwealth Youth Games. Her smile as she looked up at the scoreboard said it all, and after the race she commented,

First medals secured at Age Group Championships

The Scottish National Age Group Championships kicked off today at the Aquatics Centre in Aberdeen, where almost 1000 athletes representing 86 clubs descended for the first National Championships of the long course season. Lexie Waller, Heart of Midlothian, could not hide her smile following her 200m backstroke win in the 16 years age group category. Not only did she secure gold, her time of 2:15.63 was inside the consideration time for a place on Youth Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Youth Games, which take place in the Bahamas in July.

Aberdeen Set to Play Host to Countries Top Age Group Swimmers

Almost 1000 of the best age group swimmers will head to Aberdeen this week to compete at the Scottish National Age Group Swimming Championships, which take place at the Aquatics Centre, Aberdeen Sports Village from 29 March to 2 April.

Scottish Water and Scottish Swimming join forces to help 100,000 children learn to swim

Scottish Swimming and Scottish Water are joining forces to help more than 100,000 children across the country learn to swim. With 40% of children unable to swim by the time they leave primary school, Scottish Swimming has today announced that Scottish Water is the new three-year partner for their Learn to Swim programme, which is part of the National Framework for Swimming in Scotland, and over the next 3 years will reach over 100,000 children across Scotland.

Swim Series Events gain record numbers in 2017

Saturday 4th March was the final event in a series of 3 sell out Adult coached swim events for Swim Social and Masters swimmers. Since January we have held three regional events in Stirling, East Kilbride and Edinburgh for adults wishing to hone their swimming skills. Scottish athletes head to U.S.

A combined British squad of 41 athletes will continue their early season racing strategy when they travel to Indianapolis for the latest round of the U.S. Pro Swim Series. Six Scottish athletes have been selected for the squad: Duncan Scott, Dan Wallace, Stephen Milne, Ross Murdoch, Hannah Miley and Kathleen Dawson.
