Scottish Swimming will be holding an Information Meeting at Stirling Management Centre, Stirling University on Sunday 14th September 2008 at 10.00am.
The Structure Review has been focusing on simplifying and modernising our company structure, and reflecting theses changes and improvement in our leadership, districts, committee structure and governance paperwork. The purpose of the meeting is to present our draft recommendations and gain feedback from the membership before these are revised and presented for approval at the 2009 AGM.
All members are encouraged to attend this meeting to feedback their views. Discussion at the meeting will be essential to allow us to implement in time for February 2009.

The Under-21 Cup Final between Warrender Water Polo Club and Dunfermline Water Polo Club is now scheduled to be played on Saturday 31st May at 4pm.
The Final will take place in the pool at Edinburgh University’s Centre for Sport and Exercise (St. Leonard’s), located on Holyrood Road.

The boys from Dunfermline Water Polo Club (1993/1994 age group) beat City of
Manchester Water Polo Club
to become the 2008 ASA National Water Polo Champions at Manchester Aquatics Centre this evening.
In what was an exceptionally close game, where there were no more than three goals between the teams at any time, and
Dunfermline
always in the lead, the Scottish club came out 13-12 winners.
This is the first time a Scottish club has won this Championship and congratulations go to the squad members who contributed to a hugely successful campaign:

The Dunfermline boys team (1993/1994 age group) won their semi final in the 2008 ASA National Water Polo Championships at Manchester Aquatics Centre earlier today.
The team enjoyed a confident victory over Sutton & Cheam winning 15-2 and now meet the home team of City of Manchester in the final, which takes place tonight at 7pm.
The Championships started in late February with seven teams in total competing and Dunfermline won all their games in the group stages.

Scottish Swimming welcomes the appointment of John Scott to the role of Chief Executive for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Scott will lead the Organising Company, the body responsible for delivering the Commonwealth Games. Currently the International Director and Director of Drug Free Sport at UK Sport, he has over 30 years of experience in domestic and international sport, including major events.
Scottish Swimming look sforward to working with Scott and his team in supporting the Aquatics programme for 2014.
Speaking in Glasgow Mr Scott said he was “delighted at the opportunity to deliver the Games for Glasgow and Scotland.
“I’m passionate about sport and this is certainly the most exciting opportunity of my career. I’m determined that in 2014 the thousands of athletes, officials, spectators and those watching at home will experience the best Commonwealth Games ever staged.
“The hard work begins now, building on the outstanding foundation provided by the Bid Team. Through these Games, the whole Commonwealth will see what an amazing place Scotland is. With world-class facilities and venues, world – class competition and a fantastic cultural offering we also want to showcase the very best of the city of Glasgow.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with the partners in the Games – the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland, the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and the Commonwealth Games Federation - to make sure that we leave a strong and lasting sporting, social and economic legacy for the next generation in Scotland and throughout the Commonwealth.”
Among Mr Scott’s wide-ranging responsibilities as chief executive include delivering the sports programme, monitoring the development of new and improved infrastructure, managing the staff of the OC which will rise to several hundred people by 2014, and recruiting and training the 15,000 volunteers needed for the Games.
