As one of Scotland’s most successful sport’s governing bodies, Scottish Swimming is seeking to appoint an ambitious individual.  We are looking for an enthusiastic, self- motivated individual with the expertise to implement and deliver a  strategy leading to an increase in learn to swim and swimming participation for key target groups, as well as the wider population across Scotland.


Excellent leadership, communication and negotiating skills are a must as well as the ability to enthuse and motivate others. 


Key Functions:

  • To Lead the development, improvement and quality of aquatics programs in Scotland by enhancing and developing strategic partnerships with Local Authorities/Trusts, Aquatics providers, Scottish Government, sportscotland and other supporting partners and agencies.
  • Contribute to delivering participation targets for getting people of all ages to become and remain active through different swimming/aquatic programs and activities and increase non swimming membership.
  • Provide the strategic lead to improve the National Learn to Swim Framework and the development of a “School Learn To Swim Framework” in conjunction with the Director of Aquatics and CEO.  Work with local authorities, sportscotland, Scottish Government and other partners to agree implementation plans.


Based at Scottish Swimming HQ, on the University of Stirling campus, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and educated to HND/Degree level with a minimum of two years relevant experience.  The position will work closely with Local Authorities, Scottish Government, sportscotland and key partners to lead the development and implementation of the strategy and develop a sustainable framework for monitoring swimming participation and progress against specific targets.


You will also have experience of managing a team as well as excellent planning, organisational and communication skills. Self-motivation and the ability to prioritise a busy workload will be key to meeting deadlines.
