The Scottish Borders Elite Swim Team is seeking to contract an experienced, dynamic and passionate Performance Development Coach to drive forward the BEST vision of inspiring young athletes to achieve the highest standards they can as swimmers and individuals. We create an environment that is conducive to producing dedicated and passionate young athletes, whilst continually stressing essential life skills through participation in sport.

Formed in 2008, this exciting position is the result of co-operation between Live Borders, Scottish Swimming and swimming clubs in the region (Kelso ASC, Peebles ASC, Galashiels ASC, and Hawick & Teviotdale ASC) and has produced a number of swimmers achieving success at District and National Age Group level over the years, and more recently selection for the 2014 and 2018 Scottish Commonwealth Games Team.The successful applicant will be responsible for leading, coordinating and monitoring the Borders performance development training programme.

The coach will be working with enthusiastic and committed local swim clubs and Live Borders professional staff to continue the development of a fully integrated swimmer pathway. Applicants should hold (or be prepared to work towards) a UKCC Level 3 (or equivalent).

Key Functions:

  • Plan, deliver and evaluate training programmes for the development of athletes for the longer term
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and support to all coaches
  • Develop strong and positive relationships with athletes, coaches and parents as well as BEST Management Group  members, partner clubs, Live Borders and Scottish Swimming.

This post provides the successful applicant the opportunity to take the swimming programme forward to a higher level of performance and to be involved in the progressive programme of swimming in Scotland.

The individual will deliver a contract for services (key functions outlined above) for which payment will be made within the above range based on experience and qualifications.
