Carnegie Swimming Club, one of the oldest and top swimming clubs in Scotland, is seeking a part time development coach to support the head coach in leading and developing swimming programme for our young swimmers (10-13) in line with the Long Term Athlete Development Plan.

This is an exciting opportunity at one of the premier performance clubs in the East District Region and Scotland. The Club has a long and also recent tradition of developing top class performance swimmers and currently have a number of swimmers in Scottish Swimming’s Youth Development Squad.

In our 140th anniversary year, we are looking to develop the club at all levels in order to develop more top talent for the future.

Principal responsibilities are:

  • To develop and implement swimming programme in line with the Club Objectives, Swim 21 and LTAD, for 10-13 year old swimmers, competing at regional, district, and open meet standard
  • To develop and attend competitions suitable for the swimmers’ age groups and abilities
  • To directly coach above mentioned swimmers/squads maximising the performance of the swimmers; designing and delivering their training and competition programmes
  • To oversee and support swimmers pathway from age of 7 to 12 by managing the pathway and supporting other lead coaches on the pool side
  • To support, monitor, develop and motivate the Club’s volunteer coaches and poolside helpers
  • Associated administrative duties

Key Requirements:

  • You will be a dynamic, enthusiastic coach, ideally qualified to UKCC level 2 standard
  • A proven track record in coaching a successful age group or development programme
  • Able to inspire, motivate and effectively communicate with swimmers, coaches, volunteers, parents, committee members and other stake holders
  • To work closely with the head coach and other lead coaches to ensure that the training and competition programme developed for the club's younger swimmers is aligned with the club's pathway to ensure successful progression to the older age group/top squads
  • PVG scheme membership
