Posted: 08 July 2019 East Lothian Swim Team - Development Squad Coach Organisation: East Lothian Swim Team Location: Various locations in East Lothian Job Type: Part-time Hours: Up to 6 pool sessions (12hrs) per week Salary: Dependent upon experience Closing date: 09 August 2019 Apply We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic coach to lead our Development Squad and build a strong and sustainable future for ELST and its feeder clubs. This squad consists of swimmers entering our Performance Pathway and in partnership with our Home Clubs where the swimmers partly train. The swimmers will complete in Local and East District competitions ELST is a composite performance development programme composed of swimmers from three clubs, Haddington, Musselburgh and Tranent. In recent years the Team has gone from strength to strength producing multiple champions and medallists at District, National and Age Group Championships (6th at SNAGs 2019) as well as previously the Paralympics and Youth Commonwealth Games. ELST have formed very effective partnerships with East Lothian Council, Enjoy Leisure, and Scottish Swimming to support the development of our athletes. ELST have been awarded SwimMark Plus by Scottish Swimming. The key attributes required for the role are: UKCC Level 2 or working towards with equivalent professional experience and preferably a track record leading and motivating Age Group Swimmers. Former high-level competitive swimming experience is an advantage Deliver a high-quality programme working independently to deliver tailored training and competition plans and understand overall ELST expectations Develop the aerobic fitness and stamina of all swimmers in accordance with best practice as outlined in current recommendations on Long Term Athlete Development Ensure swimmer and coaches follow the framework outlined in our “Team Standards and Pathway Framework”, further detail available on request Excellent communication skills to provide detailed competition and training feedback for swimmers and to engage effectively with our Committee, parents and other key stakeholders Commitment to attend appropriate meets throughout the season, defined by an annual competition calendar, and occasional cover for other squads may also be required The position will also include supporting up to 3 additional sessions with our Age Group Squad which is primarily swimmers that compete at local and East District Championships Enhanced PVG will be carried out on preferred candidates and the role is subject to pre-employment checks. This role is provided under a fixed term contract as a self-employed coach, up to 6 pool sessions (12hrs) per week, and remuneration package will be dependent on candidates experience and subject to annual progression against agreed performance targets. The successful applicant will report to ELST Head Coach, work flexibly across several pool locations and with existing ELST/Home Club coaches, including supporting young coaches under our Young Leaders Programme.
