Glenrothes ASC is one of the largest clubs in Fife with just over 150 swimmers. We have young swimmers from 5 to 17 years old, from beginners through to District and National level. Our teaching and training sessions are based between Michael Woods, in Glenrothes and Bowhill Swimming Pool, in Cardenden.

We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking coach to lead the clubs swimming programme and enable all swimmers to reach their full potential. The Head Coach would be supported in their role by 11 other teaching/coaching volunteers, of which 3 are licensed level 2 squad coaches. Glenrothes ASC hold Swimark accreditation and are currently working towards Swimark plus and would like the Head Coach to be closely involved in the clubs development plan.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver, in conjunction with the other coaches, a co-ordinated training programme for all swimmers to assist them in achieving their full potential
  • Attend to administrative tasks required for the efficient running of the squads
  • Work positively with other members of the coaching team, provide mentoring and guidance
  • Develop a positive working relationship with the swimmers and their parents, feeding back on progress and ensuring effective communication
  • Attend and contribute to coaching meetings on a regular basis


  • UKCC Level 2 minimum (or equivalent), and able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of long term athlete development
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic and highly self-motivated with experience of coaching at Age group level or above
  • Willing and able to work effectively with the coaching team/volunteer Executive Committee and to develop positive relationships
  • Complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check (PVG requirement)
  • Abide by and promote sound ethics, Club policies and Scottish Swimming policies, in particular with regard to child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members
  • Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct
  • Attend appropriate training and identify CPD needs
