Grangemouth Amateur Swimming Club is based at Grangemouth Sports Complex.  It is a competitive, non profit-making swimming club of approximately 130 swimmers.

The club has a comprehensive training programme to cater for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Different training zones cater for swimmers from entry-level through to those competing at National, British and International level.

Grangemouth Amateur Swimming Club is a participating club within the F.I.R.S.T. (Falkirk Integrated Regional Swim Team) Performance program. 

The club regularly organises and participates in competitive swimming galas ranging from time-trials, local meets and leagues, through to regional, district, national and international competitions. The club has enjoyed considerable success at all of these levels.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Plan and deliver, in conjunction with the other coaches, a co-ordinated training programme for all swimmers to assist them in achieving their full potential with the objective of achieving national standards, if possible
  • Set an appropriate competition calendar for the squad and attend competitions as required 
  • Submit meet entries within deadlines and attend to administrative tasks required for the efficient running of the squad 
  • Work positively with other members of the coaching team
  • Develop a positive working relationship with the swimmers and their parents, feeding back on progress and ensuring effective communication 
  • Attend and contribute to coaching meetings and committee meetings, as required


  • UKCC Level 2 minimum  (or equivalent), and able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of long term athlete development 
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated with a minimum of two years’ experience of coaching at Age group level or above 
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include early morning, evening and weekend training sessions as well as competitions 
  • Willing and able to work effectively with a large coaching and administration team and to develop positive relationships
  • Complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check 
  • Abide by and promote sound ethics, Club policies and Scottish Swimming policies, in particular with regard to child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members  
  • Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct 
  • Attend appropriate training
