Posted: 21 September 2020 Head Coach Organisation: Cults Otters Location: Aberdeen Job Type: Part-Time Hours: 11 hours Salary: Competitive Closing date: 30 October 2020 Apply PURPOSE To inspire club athletes to be the best they can be through the design and execution of the coaching program. In doing so enhance the reputation of Cults Otters as a swimming club. MAIN FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES Translate the club objectives into a safe, fun, effective and inspiring technical program for the swimmers and coaches Provide a positive and consistent role model through visible, knowledgeable coaching poolside Lead and develop an integrated technical program for swim coaching and instruction in the club from Orcas through to JS4. Set the meet schedule in alignment with the plan. Co-ordinate other coaches in the club ensure alignment of training and provide mentoring to all coaches. Plan / schedule coach and swim squad timetable to ensure sufficient coaching staff available at training sessions and swim meets. Ensure promotion between squads remains consistent based on established and documented standards – have final say where disagreement exists. Assist the development section coach with swimmer recruitment. Manage the most senior squads within the club designing the training and competition schedule while providing active coaching to the swimmers in training and competition settings. Current training program is active 6 days a week for this group. Ensure alignment of club program with University of Aberdeen Develop relationships across a broad range of forum to improve club standing and performance – sport Aberdeen, North District coaches, Parents, Committee members, UoA coaching staff, Scottish swimming, parents Liaise with the committee to represent the coaching staff in club decision making To actively recruit and develop the coaching team To ensure an effective, safe environment for all SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES Motivates others Good organisation and communication skills Reliable & trustworthy Approachable & friendly Ability to inspire effort in others Able to provide feedback in a way that enables growth Able to maintain confidentiality REQUIREMENTS Level 2 coaching certification Strong demonstrated knowledge of swimming technique development PVG Scheme Membership Complete a self-declaration Be a member of Scottish Swimming Complete coached code of conduct declaration TRAINING AND SUPPORT Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshop (renewable every 3 years) TIME COMMITMENT Training 6 days a week – Approximately 11 hours on deck. Swim meet calendar typically covers 30 days a year with meets usually Sat, Sun or both. Committee meetings bi monthly for 90mins. Ad Hoc meetings to facilitate networking and representing the club in various forums Training and competition is largely centred around school timetable. The club currently runs limited training during school holidays leaving most of this time free. Compensation Competitive compensation will be available for this position based on candidate’s experience.
