Highland Swim Team is looking for a dedicated swimming professional to coach our two Junior Development Squads.  The team is growing in size and success and candidates will contribute to further growth and achievement.  The candidate must be enthusiastic, motivated, and have a minimum Level 2 qualification, preferably Level 3, or be working towards Level 3.

The Junior Development Coach will work closely with our volunteer team of committee members and the High Life Highland Performance Development Coach, as well as volunteer coaches from local swimming clubs.

In conjunction with the HLH PDC the Junior Development Coach will be responsible for the development and planning of the training programme, communicating with parents/carers, volunteer coaches and swimmers.  This is a part time position requiring some flexibility and an ability to work weekends. 

Previous competitive coaching experience is preferred.

The job specific criteria are:

  • Must hold a minimum UKCC Level 2 coaching qualification (or equivalent) and be actively aiming for Level 3.
  • Knowledge and experience of the development, organisation, implementation and co-ordination of swim squads to ensure all swimmers are given the opportunity to maximise their potential, including an understanding of swimming specific LTAD.
  • Build strong relationships with swimmers, parents and member clubs to support swimmers in reaching the next level of swimming.
  • Attendance at select competitions and meets to support Highland Swim Team swimmers.
  • Good communication skills; including supporting and mentoring volunteer coaches.
  • The ability to plan strategically and support swimmers in goal and target setting.

Successful candidates will be put through the Scottish Swimming PVG check.
