Posted: 02 April 2019 Junior Age Group Squad Coach Organisation: Warrender Baths Club Location: Edinburgh Job Type: Part-Time Hours: Various Salary: Dependent on experience Closing date: 30 April 2019 Apply Warrender Baths Club is Scotland’s leading competitive swimming club based in Edinburgh. We have over 300 competitive members in 12 progressive squads, encompassing those in entry level squads aged from 8 years up to the National Performance Squad. We are seeking a new Coach for the Junior Age Group Squad of 25 mixed swimmers between the ages of 11 and 13 years to deliver 6 training sessions per week, over a total of 10 hours per week with one land training session. This is an important transitional squad of talented youngsters acting as a bridge between our Development and National programmes with the emphasis being on ‘learning to train and to compete’. The Club is coach-driven and has a committed and active Management Committee, allowing our coaches to concentrate on coaching. Main duties • Develop a high-quality cyclic coaching and training plan, combining with the competition schedule, to meet the needs of the Junior Age Group swimmers in line with the strategy and direction of the Club and as agreed with the Head Coach; • Prepare and coach the squad’s 6-session training schedule of swimming and some land training; • Work positively with other members of the coaching team, co-operating fully with and reporting to the Head Coach; • Plan, attend and work with swimmers at all appropriate competitions; • Maintain accurate attendance and training records for all swimmers; • Provide comprehensive individual feedback and advice to swimmers, including termly written reporting; • Develop appropriate individual goals and objectives and enable them to be achieved; • Submit meet entries within deadlines and attend coaches’ meetings as required; Requirements • Preferably UKCC Level 2 Coaching qualification (or equivalent) and able to demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of Age Group level swimming; • Ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated, preferably with a minimum of 2 years coaching experience; • Ability to work flexible hours to include early morning, evening and weekend training sessions as well as competitions • Complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check • Abide by and promote sound ethics, Club policies and Scottish Swimming policies, in particular with regard to child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members • Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct • Attend appropriate training as discussed with and agreed by the Head Coach, including the National Rescue Award. This is a self-employed position with competitive monthly remuneration, depending on experience and qualifications. A 3-month probationary period will require to be completed before the position is confirmed.
