Our club is the oldest amateur swimming club in Glasgow. Founded in 1892 it took the name Kingston from the area just south of the river Clyde near where the Kingston Car Wash used to be! We kept our name when we moved to Govanhill Baths in Calder Street. From April 2001 we moved to our current location at Castlemilk Pool.

We are looking for an Assistant Head Coach responsible for the day-to-day running of the junior swimmer development programme in our Teaching and Boom Pools. We train three nights a week at Castlemilk, Monday from 18:30 to 21:00, Wednesday from 19:30 to 21:00 and Friday from 18:00 to 21:00. We train children from school age right through to adulthood with additional sessions for our competitive swimers.  The teaching/coaching commitment for this post would be for 2 sessions covering the Monday and Friday.

Role outline:

  • Work with the Head Coach to ensure swimmers in these pools are working to agreed criteria
  • Support coaching staff in their development
  • Develop session plans and ensure teachers are working together
  • Responsible for reporting progress to parents, taking feedback and questions
  • Monitor and develop the Learn to Swim section
  • Attend competitions when required


  • UKCC Level 2. Applicants possessing a Level 1 qualification will be required to achieve Level 2 during their probationary period.
