An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated coach to lead the excellent NDASC coaching team. NDASC is a swiMark plus accredited club with around 70 members at present.

Our vision is to inspire a life-long love of swimming and to build a programme of excellence in training, team unity, character development and support, allowing swimmers and coaches the opportunity to achieve their potential.

We are based in the seaside town of Nairn on the beautiful Moray Firth and coach children joining the club from the Learn to Swim programme and progressing through to District /National level, working in collaboration with the Highland Swim Team; Performance Swim Team for the Scottish Highlands. The club also has a small active masters group.

The main responsibilities and duties of the Head Coach role are to:

• Oversee and participate in the effective, safe and positive delivery of coaching (covering both pool and land work) for all swimmers in the club;

• Create long and short term training plans to provide quality coaching programmes to the ability of all athletes;

• Write all squad session plans (allowing coaches flexibility to adapt where necessary) 

• Provide clear, progressive development paths for coaches and athletes of all abilities, and give feedback on progression;

• Liaise with the coaching team to ensure progression between squads is fair and transparent through regular monitoring of criteria & squad membership; • Provide integrated development plans for HST athletes in collaboration with the HST Performance Coach;

• Assume responsibility as Nairn HST coach representative for communication, training and development;

• Plan a suitable competition calendar alongside our Meet Secretary to ensure regular and appropriate competitive opportunities for members;

• Organise your own coaching hours monthly to allow attendance at a variety of sessions across different days over the month in addition to the Friday evening club session; allowing for planning time, attendance at a variety of competitions annually & personal development plan meetings with athletes/coaches within allocated hours;

• Arrange appropriate qualified coaching cover for yourself if you are unavailable for a session you had agreed to coach (Currently committee assist in ensuring volunteer coaching cover full for all sessions & competitions);

• Work closely with the executive committee to plan and implement the future development of the club;

• Present Coach reports to Committee Meetings (every 6-8 weeks);

• Abide by and promote sound ethics and club policies; child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members.

Applicants should be able to document their ability/willingness to:

• Be approachable; building a good working relationship with club coaches, swimmers, committee, parents and volunteers;

• Undertake duties with the utmost professionalism ; communicating calmly & effectively with all;

• Provide first class learning/training environment and keep up to date with latest swimming techniques and training methods;

• Motivate, inspire & relate to swimmers;

• Ensure sets enjoyable and that all understand what is required and the technical purpose of drills & sets;

• Contribute to the continued success of NDASC.

The successful candidate will be subject to a PVG and enhanced disclose and have to sign up to the clubs Coach Code of Conduct. The candidate will be expected to complete the Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop and appropriate CPD.
