National Girls Squad - Lead Coach

Warrender Baths Club
Job Type:
Dependent on experience
Closing date:
30 April 2019

Warrender Baths Club is Scotland’s leading and most successful Age Group and Youth swimming programme. As well as consistently finishing in the Top 3 at the Scottish National Age Group Championships over the last ten year period, the Club has a history of placing youth swimmers onto National teams (British and Scottish). The Club seeks to appoint a new Lead Coach for our National Girls Squad Programme.

In April 2012, the Club made the innovative step to separate its 13-16 year old boys’ and girls’ squads, with different lead coaches, allowing training to be tailored in a more gender specific way at this critical stage in the athletes’ development. This is now adopted by Scottish Swimming in its Youth Development Squad programme.

The Club’s competitive pathway currently consists of 12 squads. The National Girls Squad feeds directly into the Club’s Performance Squad at the top of the pathway. The squad has 8 pool sessions, with 4 early mornings, and three 45 minute land sessions available on a weekly basis. The role presents an excellent opportunity for the coach to work with swimmers within the Scottish Swimming performance pathway and to further their development by being exposed to a network of experienced coaches and personal development opportunities.

The programme requires a highly motivated, creative and ambitious individual who embraces the ethos of a girls only programme, working with them to build strong, independent and resilient young people. The Club is coach-driven and has a committed and active Management Committee, allowing our coaches to concentrate on coaching. The successful applicant will be expected to commence the programme in August 2019, with induction and training provided.
