Warrender Baths Club is Scotland’s leading and most successful Age Group and Youth swimming programme. The Club seeks a highly motivated, creative Performance Coach to deliver and oversee the coaching programme for the National Performance Squad and to help the athletes achieve their full potential in a safe and positive environment. Working alongside the Head Coach and Lead Coaches of the National Squads, you will be part of a cohesive team providing a well-organised, appropriate and effective National Squad training programme. The programme requires a progressive and ambitious individual who will work with the athletes to build strong, independent and resilient young people.

The role presents an excellent opportunity to work with youth swimmers at the top of the Scottish Swimming performance pathway, aiming to achieve at National and International youth level. Mentoring by the Club’s Head Coach will enable the successful candidate to further their own development and experience. The Club is coach-driven and has a committed and active Management Committee, assisting with administration and allowing our coaches to concentrate on coaching. Induction and training will be provided.

Key responsibilities: Functions and Duties • Working with the Head Coach, to plan and deliver all aspects of the National Performance Squad programme, including setting the competition calendar and Club teams for competitions and setting and implementing the season training plan, with standards of performance and expectations for the squad • Working with the Head Coach to monitor and evaluate the National Performance Squad programme, meeting regularly with the Head Coach and National Squad coaches • To assist the athletes to reach their full potential with the objective of achieving national and international success at youth level • To provide appropriate programme and individual swimmer evaluation, including working with swimmers on individual goal-setting • To report to the Head Coach

• To regularly liaise and meet with service providers for those athletes on National Squads/Teams, and the sportscotland institute of sport • To liaise with the Scottish Swimming Performance Director and Scottish National Head Coach to deliver principles and objectives of the National Performance Plan • To develop a positive working relationship with the group and their parents, feeding back on progress to the Head Coach and ensuring effective communication • To ensure a progressive squad culture is in place, which will maximise individual potential within an enjoyable and rewarding team environment • To work positively with other members of the coaching team, co-operating fully with and working alongside the Head Coach and all Club coaches to build a cohesive environment • To attend competitions and training camps as required and agreed with the Head Coach • To attend and contribute to appropriate and relevant Club, local, regional and national forums/meetings and report to the Head Coach as required • To follow CPD programme as directed by the Club and Scottish Swimming

• To support club development initiatives Qualifications, Skills and Attributes • Level 3 UKCC Coaching Swimming qualification or equivalent and able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of long-term athlete development • Experience of successful coaching at National level, with a commitment and drive to deliver success at national and international youth level • A sound understanding of writing and delivering training plans • Excellent coaching skills and technical knowledge • Excellent communication skills • Ability to work independently, effectively as part of a team and in partnership with other coaches and key organisations • Skilled at motivating and establishing rapport with competitive swimmers to inspire them to achieve their full potential

• Ability to work flexible hours to include early morning, evening and weekend training sessions as well as competitions • Willing and able to work effectively with a large coaching and administration team and to develop positive relationships with key partners of the Club • Knowledge of latest developments within swimming • Good organisational and planning skills, with an ability to prioritise • Strong IT skills (there will be a requirement to use Hy-Tek Team Manager and Meet Manager software, on which training will be provided by the Club) • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, professional and trustworthy

REQUIREMENTS • PVG scheme membership • Complete a self-declaration • Be a member of Scottish Swimming • Attend appropriate training • Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct and comply with Club and Scottish Swimming policies, procedures and guidelines, including the Scottish Swimming Child Protection Policy • Abide by and promote sound ethics and club policies, child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members

TRAINING AND SUPPORT • Appropriate CPD as identified and agreed with the Head Coach • Safeguarding and Protecting Children Workshop (renewable every 3 years)

This is a self-employed position with competitive remuneration, depending on experience and qualifications. A 3-month probationary period will require to be completed before the position is confirmed. It is anticipated that the position would commence in September.
