Kirkintilloch & Kilsyth Amateur Swimming Club (KKASC) seek applications for the post of Part-Time Head Coach.

KKASC is a competitive swimming, artistic swimming and water polo club which was awarded the Scottish Swimming Club of the Year in 2018. The club is currently rebuilding their membership back up following the effects of the pandemic, however, the club remains buoyant on the back of their successful maintenance planning.  

  • KKASC now seek to recruit a part-time head coach to lead and develop our swim teams from the entry-level squads through to those on our emerging performance pathway programme.


The key strategic focus areas for our Head Coach position are:

  • Lead, manage and develop the competitive swimming and coordinate the artistic swimming and water polo.
  • Oversee and facilitate the development of our full squad structure.
  • Lead and be accountable for the continuous development and performance of our committed volunteer coaching team and land trainers.
  • Build connections and relationships with learning-to-swim programs, other aquatics clubs and Scottish Swimming.


The main operational duties of our Head Coach include:

  • Organise all coaching of the competitive swimmers, artistic swimming and water polo; taking specific responsibility for coaching our competition squad.
  • Develop and maintain a coaching programme for all levels across the three disciplines within the Club.  
  • Supervise and manage the other Coaches as appropriate, including performance and development conversations.
  • Determine the competitive strategy for committed competitive athletes within the Club including external and internal competitions.
  • Organise our coaches to accompany swimmers, artistic swimming and water polo teams to appropriate competitions.
  • To represent the Club at meetings as appropriate to develop the club and as requested by the Management Committee.
  • To attend all Management Committee meetings.
  • Liaise  with:
    • Other local swimming teaching agencies to ensure a smooth pathway for swimmers into the Club.
    • The Management Committee on an ongoing basis.
    • Parents on matters concerning the progress of Club swimmers.

  • Do you have extensive experience in developing coaching teams?
  • Can you readily develop positive working relationships with athletes, coaches, parents and volunteers?
  • Do you possess a UKCC Level 3 Coaching qualification, or are you currently an experienced Level 2 and are willing to work towards Level 3?
  • Would you be committed to gaining and maintaining a Scottish Swimming level 3 coach licence and to completing a PVG scheme application?

The successful applicant for the Head Coach position will be engaged under a contract for services arrangement.  The hours of work are negotiable however are not expected to exceed 16 hours per week, excluding competitions.  Fees are negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
