Broch ASC is looking to recruit an enthusiastic part-time Performance Coach who will define, influence and lead the overall direction of our upper-squad swim program.

The Performance Coach should be able to show a passion for coaching and be able to motivate and inspire both swimmers and the Coaching Team, with the aim to give each swimmer the support, nurturing and guidance required to excel.

This is an ideal position for anyone who has experience as a Head Coach or a Level 2 coach looking to work in a friendly yet performance-oriented environment. The right candidate will be well supported professionally and personally by the club coaches and the Committee.

The Performance Coach will be responsible for all aspects of operating the competitive swim program for our performance squads

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a coaching and development programme for performance squads
  • Plan and agree with the coaching team a competitive calendar for performance club squads
  • To lead and coordinate the wider coaching team, providing advice and support to coaches and helpers
  • Support the development of an appropriate pool programme and squad timetable
  • Encourage potential coaches and support their development
  • Report to the Committee and contribute at appropriate club meetings
  • Ensure personal continuous development/training
  • Support annual club planning and development of SwimMark+ action plan.
  • Ensure that the appropriate level of coaching is available for all training sessions including land training. Some of this responsibility may be delegated to other coaches where appropriate.
  • Attend appropriate competitions and training camps, with supervised delegation to appropriately qualified coaches and team managers where necessary.
  • Monitor swimmers’ progress and co-ordinate swimmer movements between squads in conjunction with the other squad coaches,
  • Attend to other such general duties associated with the post of Performance Coach
  • Work with the Development Coach to ensure appropriate swimmer progression.




The successful candidate will be:

  • Qualified UKCC/ASA Level 2 Swimming Coach (or equivalent)
  • Experienced in coaching in a performance development environment (District & National level)
  • PVG Scheme Membership & up to date Wellbeing and Protection training or willingness to attend relevant workshops
  • Willing to be a member of Scottish Swimming


It is also expected that the successful candidate will be:

  • Motivational and ambitious
  • Good at organisation and communication skills
  • Willing to develop and improve as a coach
  • Able to spot talent and nurture it
  • Able to make sessions enjoyable and to build a team ethos
  • Efficient and effective time management
  • Able to show an appropriate level of technical knowledge
  • Approachable and friendly


It would be desirable (but not essential) for the candidate to have a knowledge of Team Manager and Team Unify software systems. Training will be provided if required.

Successful applicants would be expected to undergo a six-month probationary period and be subject to a three-month review.

About the Club:
Broch ASC has a long history and although a relatively small club of 80 members we consistently punch above our weight competitively. We have a fantastic set of assistant coaches, volunteers and helpers giving a friendly and team orientated feel to the Club. We have multiple squads ranging from our entry level Pre-Bronze squad right through to Masters. We attend Gala’s throughout the year providing competitive opportunities for all swimmers. We are Scottish Swimming affiliated and proudly hold SwimMark+ accreditation.
