REN 96 Swim Team is Renfrewshire & East Renfrewshire’s premier competitive swimming club. We are a club of approximately 350 swimming members, from Development to Masters levels of experience. The club provides comprehensive programmes in both high performance competitive swimming and non-competitive training that caters for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

REN 96 is focused on the performance of young swimmers and providing a route to enable them to reach their full potential in swimming and equipping them with important life skills. We also provide different training zones that cater for swimmers from entry-level through to those competing at National, British and International level. We are currently seeking to appoint a Performance Coach with proven background to assist with the development of the club and our swimmers. This role presents an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is seeking to further their coaching experience and demonstrate their abilities through the performance of our swimmers.

The emphasis of this appointment will be on the coaching of technique across all strokes/events while encouraging an environment of high performance, self-belief and team spirit.

Key responsibilities:  Plan and deliver, in conjunction with the other coaches, a co-ordinated training programme for all swimmers to assist them in achieving their full potential, using a full range of coaching techniques. Support swimmers in their preparation for and participation in competitions (primarily weekends) Attend to administrative tasks required for the efficient running of swimming squads. Work positively with other members of the coaching team. Develop a positive working relationship with the swimmers and their parents, providing feedback on progress and ensuring goals and requirements are well understood by all stakeholders.  Attend and contribute to coaching meetings as required.

Requirements: Ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated swim coach with a proven background, ideally with a minimum of two years experience of coaching at UKCC Level 3 or equivalent. Able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the principles of LTAD and OADF.  Ability to work flexible hours to include early morning, evening and weekend training sessions as well as competitions.  Willing and able to work effectively with a large coaching and administration team and to develop positive relationships with all key stakeholders. Complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check (PVG requirement). Abide by and promote sound ethics, Club policies and Scottish Swimming policies, in particular with regard to child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members.  Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct and self employment contract. Attend appropriate training. The club will consider supporting further training opportunities for coaches.
