Club Background

Silver City Blues Masters Swimming Club is aimed at adults who wish to continue to swim regularly, whether competitively, for fitness or just for the social side. Founded in 1985 and accredited with Swimmark+, the aim of the club is to provide regular, coached training sessions for swimmers of all standards and abilities. 

We train at four pools across the city; Bucksburn (Monday evening), Aberdeen Sports Village (Tuesday evening and Saturday morning), RGU:Sport (Wednesday evening) and Tullos (Thursday evening) with a total of 7.5 pool hours a week. The club are the current Scottish National Champions and compete at galas across Britain as well as internationally, with some fantastic results being achieved in the past few years.

Silver City Blues has a diverse membership of adults of all ages, who all share different motivations to swim either for fitness or competitively and with 80 regular training members and 120 members in total, the club is the largest in Scotland.  The club prides itself on being able to cater for a wide range of abilities, but also providing a fantastic social experience.

What we’re looking for?

We are looking for an assistant coach to join our current coaching team, who can demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Experienced Level 1 or Level 2 coach, looking for experience with a Masters club. (However, no experience with a masters club in necessary.)
  • Able to coach/assist with 1 or 2 sessions per week.
  • Communicate effectively with adult swimmers, coaches and committee members.
  • To assist all swimmers to achieve their goals in local, regional and national competitions.
  • Ability to develop technique at all levels.
  • Ability to run a diverse session that takes into account the needs of a diverse group.
  • Embrace the Master’s ethos of fun, fitness and friendship
  • Able to build on a hugely successful club and take this forward into 2017 and beyond.

The successful candidate will be joining a club with a clear volunteer policy including Honoraria payment, funded education opportunities (CPDs and coaching courses) as well as gaining access to club training sessions. In addition, when attending meets as the coach, all travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the club.
