Stirling Swimming is a successful competitive swimming club mainly based at the University of Stirling and is part of a wider swim programme in the Stirling area. It is a club of a membership of around 270 swimmers that is growing by the year and is on the verge of very exciting times with partners in the local area.

We are looking for an individual who will help us achieve our aims of becoming the lead age group and youth club in the country by coaching and preparing talented young swimmers for a life in high performance senior swimming.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the Development and Potential squads which lead into the Performance squads within the club. The Lead Youth Coach will develop young swimmers in the transition from early competition to entry into these performance squads.

You will be required to work with the Head Coach to help plan and deliver a well structured, innovative and progressive coaching programme that fits in with the club ethos. 

This position is ideal for someone who sees their future in performance swimming as the club will give a commitment to professionally develop and mentor them to enable them to achieve their goals.

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual who will share the club ethos play an instrumental part in achieving its goal to become the primary age group club in Scotland.

Skills and competencies

  • Be part of a team that develops a pathway for swimmers to achieve their potential
  • Focus on the development of technique and be a motivator to encourage high performance
  • Communicate effectively with swimmers, coaches, committee members, volunteer helpers and parents
  • Show a willingness to embrace the clubs ethos and to contribute to its success
  • Consider individual swimmers needs to maximise performance at galas. Including pre race preparation and post race feedback
  • Have good administrative skills

Qualifications required –

  • UKCC Level 2 Coach - willing to work towards UKCC Level 3
