Reporting: This position reports into the Learn to Swim Coorinator.

Aquanauts, Livingston Amateur Swimming Club goal is to provide access to children aged 3 – 16 with the opportunity to learn to swim.  We offer lessons from beginners’ stage one to development state four as well as Rookie Lifeguards. As a non-profit organisation, we aim to provide affordable access to our lessons.  To deliver our lessons programme are looking for an enthusiastic and customer focused Swimming Teacher to join our team.

Swimming not only teaches a skill for life and improve quality of life, but it can also provide a fulfilling and enjoyable work experience as you work with children of all ages to help them develop these skills.


This is your chance to train potential athletes, ensure children remain safe and aware of the risks around water and build confidence in all service users. Who knows, it maybe you getting a thank you from the Olympic swimmers of the future!

Ultimately, you'll ensure your pupils continue to progress, providing them with confidence in the water - and you with an enormous sense of achievement and pride.

About you

You'll need to have excellent customer service skills as you'll be interacting heavily with swimmers parents and follow team members, so you will need to be a people person who is happy dealing with people of all ages and backgrounds.

As a teacher you'll naturally be able to motivate and manage your students, have excellent planning skills, and be a good communicator.

Lastly, you'll need to hold an UKCC Level 1 or 2 Teaching Aquatics Qualification or the new Scottish Swimming, Teaching Qualification or equivalent. It would be an advantage if you hold a qualification in water safety/lifesaving (NPLQ) or NRA, but this is not essential.
