Head Coach

As a newly affiliated club, Visions Swim Academy are seeking a Head Coach to improve performance of athletes in a safe and positive environment, while working alongside other club staff to deliver a well organised, appropriate and effective programme.  The club has full access to the swimming pool during training and as the programme develops, more time may become available. The club is based within Visions Leisure Centre, Cumnock where a new state of the art super school is being built adjacent to the site.  The centre plays a key role in delivering fitness and swimming within the local community.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities


  • To provide quality coaching programmes to the ability of all athletes
  • To assist the athletes to achieve their full potential with the objective of achieving district / national / international / world class standards
  • To lead and coordinate the coaching team, and provide advice and support to assistant coaches and helpers
  • To provide clear, progressive and accessible development paths for athletes and coaches of all abilities, and give feedback on progression
  • To support club development initiatives
  • Abide by and promote sound ethics and club policies; child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members
  • Liaise with the club management committee to ensure there are regular and appropriate competitive opportunities for members
  • To attend and contribute to appropriate club meetings

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge


•           PVG Scheme Membership

•           Complete a self-declaration

•           Be a member of Scottish Swimming

•           Attend appropriate training

•           Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct

•           Scottish Swimming UKCC Level 2 (minimum)

•           Appropriate CPD

•           Safeguarding & Protecting Children Work – Renewable every 3 years)


As this is a new role, candidates looking for a development opportunity may

also be considered.


Club hours & Salary

Tuesday 6.00pm – 9.00pm

Thursday 6.00pm – 7.00pm

Every second Sunday 7.30am – 8.30am

Plus 3 hours administration time


Salary £15 per hour with potential to develop.
