As well as consistently finishing in the Top 3 at the Scottish National Age Group Championships over the last ten year period, the Club has a history of placing youth swimmers onto National teams (British and Scottish). Junior Masters squad is for swimmers who wish to continue to enjoy the challenge of swim training and competition without restrictive attendance and performance criteria. This squad sits alongside our main competitive pathway and swimmers will feed into our Masters programme at the appropriate age. The Club seeks to appoint a new Lead Coach for our Junior Masters programme. With 4 sessions per week (approximately 6 hours), the role presents an excellent opportunity for you to encourage and motivate young people to stay within the sport of swimming, delivering fun and challenging sessions in order for them to enjoy their swimming and continue to develop. As a part of a large coaching team, you will benefit from mentoring from the Head Coach and strong administrative support. The programme requires a highly motivated, creative individual who is able to engage with young people in order to take the group forward in the 2018-2019 season. The successful applicant will ideally commence the programme mid-August, with induction and training provided as necessary. Key responsibilities: Plan and deliver, in conjunction with the Head Coach, a co-ordinated training programme for a group of swimmers with competitive swimming experience ranging in age from 13-17; Set appropriate competitive opportunities for those wishing to compete; Submit meet entries within deadlines and attend to administrative tasks required for the efficient running of the squad; Work positively with other members of the coaching team, co-operating fully with and working alongside the Head Coach, and gaining insight into the Masters programme to which these swimmers will progress in due course; Develop a positive working relationship with the group, delivering on their individual aims and needs after undertaking goal-setting with each swimmer; Attend and contribute to coaching meetings as required, set by the Head Coach. Requirements: Ideally UKCC Level 2 minimum (or equivalent); Ambitious, enthusiastic and highly motivated, ideally with a minimum of two years’ experience of competitive swimming coaching; Ability to work during evenings and at occasional weekend competitions where appropriate; Willing and able to work effectively as part of a coaching team; Ability to develop and strengthen links between Junior Masters and the Club’s adult Masters programme; Complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check; Abide by and promote sound ethics, Club policies and Scottish Swimming policies, in particular with regard to child protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members; Sign and adhere to the Club’s Coaches Code of Conduct; Attend appropriate training as discussed with and agreed by the Head Coach, including the National Rescue Award. This is a self-employed position with competitive monthly remuneration, depending on experience and qualifications. A 3-month probationary period will require to be completed before the position is confirmed.
