Child Protection

Scottish Swimming is committed to promoting the wellbeing of athletes within our sport to allow them to enjoy a positive experience of swimming and to encourage lifetime participation.

We are also committed to providing continuous support, training and guidance to our volunteers and staff within this area. Remember it's not just the athletes that we want to protect it is ourselves too, and common sense should prevail.

It is a constitutional requirement for clubs to appoint a Child Protection Officer (CPO). The CPO is our main point of contact within clubs, and they are kept up to date through Child Protection Newsletters. Scottish Swimming asks the CPO to communicate useful information, training opportunities and changes in legislation to the club network. Please find Child Protection Officer Role Descriptor here

Scottish Swimming's Child Protection Policy and Club Child Protection Pack are located in this section. They contain current best practice, guidelines and sample forms for clubs and partners. Clubs are advised to adopt the Child Protection Policy within their own procedures.
