Develop Your Club

The Club Development Framework aims to help clubs reflect on how they operate and builds on the existing support and resources available to clubs across Scotland. The Framework aims to be flexible and simple, delivering a non-prescriptive approach to supporting clubs delivering quality environments.

After consultation with our clubs and partners, six key components have been identified as critical to the delivery of quality club environments.

In each of the key component areas we provide five guiding principle statements for clubs to consider whether these are in place and if they should be. The guiding principles are designed to be broad so that any club can use them, regardless of size, aspirations or level of athlete.

Our Club Development Manager and Regional Swimming Development Managers will lead and support your club to utilise the Club Framework.

The Club Development Community on HIVE aims to provide a platform for discussion and sharing good practice.  It will also provide resources for clubs to access as and when they require to support the development of any or all of the key components of the Club Framework.

Scottish Swimming’s Club Development Manager and Regional Swimming Development Managers will lead and support your journey and experience in this group.

Scottish Swimming recognises the important role clubs can play to increase participation and improve the quality of sporting opportunities for the benefit of the local community. There are many ways to develop your club.

SwiMark/SwiMark Plus, DiveMark/DiveMark Plus, PoloMark/PoloMark Plus and SynchroMark/ SynchroMark Plus are Scottish Swimming’s quality aquatic development programmes for clubs.  The aim of accreditation is to provide a nationally recognised standard that will enable clubs to:

·     Develop safe, effective and child friendly environments, based on good practice

·     Improve participants experience through well trained teachers and volunteers

·     Encourage lifelong participation through sustainable development pathways

The accreditation process is straightforward with guidance and support resources being made available throughout from your Regional Swimming Development Manager and Scottish Swimming. Find out more about the accreditation scheme.

We also have a marketing toolkit available to support your club with promotion to help you recruit and retain members and raise the profile of your club.
