ANNETTE MOONEY started her swimming and water polo career at Menzieshill High School, Dundee. She made an outstanding contribution to ladies' water polo gaining 60 GB caps, taking part in international tournaments throughout Europe, which included European Championships in 1989 and World Championships in Madrid in 1986 and a pre-Olympic tournament. Mooney captained Menzieshill Ladies Water Team in 1984 when they won the British Senior Womens Championships when they defeated Runnymede 10-5. Also in 1984, Annette won the Scottish Player of the Year Award for her outstanding achievements in the sport. She also was awarded the BBC School Award. Mooney was also a very good swimmer and was a member of Menzieshill HS relay swim team that set up a world record for the 100 mile relay. She always encouraged youngsters to get involved in the sport of water polo.
