Gregor Tait Date Of Birth: 20 April 1979 Place Of Birth: Glasgow, Scotland Discipline: Swimming (Backstroke) Inducted: 2010 Gregor was born in Glasgow and is currently the reigning Commonwealth Games champion for the 200m Backstroke and the 200m Individual Medley. Gregor competed in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games, winning two Bronze medals and on his return was hailed as a ‘national hero’ by Scotland’s first minister Jack McConnell. At the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, he finished 12th in the 100m backstroke and seventh in the 200m backstroke and eighth is the 4x100 medley relay. In 2008, Gregor took part in his second Olympic Games held in Beijing. Unfortunately he returned home without any medals; coming 12th in the 100m Backstroke and 8th in the 200m Backstroke.
