FINA World Championships

The FINA World Championships occur every two years, either in the year before or after a Summer Olympic Games. From 1978 to 1998, the World Championships were held every four years, in the even years between Summer Olympics. From 2001 on, the Championships moved to every two years, in odd years.

Scotland's swimmers returned home with three medals as part of the Team GB squad at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Duncan Scott swam his way to Gold with the 4x200m Freestyle Relay team, and then he and Ross Murdoch won Silver as part of the 4x100m Medley Relay team alongside comptatriot Stephen Milne. Scott and Murdoch also reached the finals of the 100m and 200m Freestyle and Breaststroke events respectively. Hannah Miley and Kathleen Dawson both made the finals in the 400m Individual Medley and 100m Backstroke.
