Important Changes for 2017

FINA has introduced a number of significant changes to their Open Water rules in January 2017.  These require that wetsuits be worn at temperatures of less than 18 C (optional from 18 C to 20 C).  As a result, there have been a number of changes made to the Scottish Rules to comply with the new FINA Rules but also to allow the more traditional swims to continue.  The new FINA Rules in terms of wetsuits will apply at Level One Events (so National and District Championships Events).

In the Scottish climate, it is almost certain that wetsuits will need to be worn at these events.  Level Two Events may or may not require wetsuits - check the Meet info.

The documents here are intended to help you navigate the new rules and understand what is required.
