National Squads At Scottish Swimming we work with around 700 talented swimmers in our performance squads. There are numerous levels in the programme, with junior (under 16s) and senior (over 17s) gold, silver and bronze squads. There is also the Youth Squad and the Youth Development Squad at national level, with an excellent District Programme beneath this at regional level. We ensure the best swimmers make it onto the correct squad by setting qualification standards which can then be met at the many licensed competition around the country. These events range from Open Meets organised by clubs, to district championships and national events including the Age Group Championships, Short Course Championships and Long Course Championships. Our top level Senior Gold Squad consists of Scotland's top competitive swimmers - the athletes who have either won or are likely to win medals at competitions such as the Commonwealth Games. Other squads include Senior Silver and Senior Bronze Squads, the Youth Squad and the Youth Development Squad with the District Regional Programme Squads completing the structure.
