Duncan Scott Place Of Birth: Glasgow Current Club: University of Stirling Current Coach: Steven Tigg Back A Rising Star: @Dunks_Scott Duncan Scott continues his rapid rise through the swimming rankings. He's currently the British record holder in the 100m Freestyle and fast becoming a global star in the field of Freestyle. In 2019, Duncan won his first medals at a World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. The University of Stirling swimmer claimed bronze in the 200m freestyle, and followed that up with a gold in the 4x100m medley relay, anchoring the race with the second quickest split time ever recorded. He became the most decorated Scot at a single Commonwealth Games after he won six medals at Gold Coast 2018, includnig gold in the 100m Freesetyle. He followed that up at Glasgow 2018 at European level with four medals, including three golds, the best of which was a 200m Freestyle win from the outside lane. Duncan returned from the Rio Olympic Games in 2016 as a double silver-medallist after playing a key part in the Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay (of which all but one member of the team was Scottish) and the 4x100m Medley Relay. He also swam to the final of the 100m Freestyle, finishing fifth. The 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest produced yet more outstanding results, with Gold in the Men's 4x200m Freestyle (British Record) and Silver in the Men's 4x100m Medley Relay (British Record). In individual events, he was fifth in the 100m Freestyle and fourth in the 200m Freestyle and narrowly missed out on a medal in the 200m Freestyle, beat to third by 0.04 seconds. At the World Championships Trials in Sheffield in April 2017 (the British Championships), Duncan broke the British Record and became the first British man to post a sub-48 second time for the 100m Freestyle, touching home in 47.90. Duncan made his debut appearance at a World Championships in 2015, coming home with a Gold as part of the men’s 4x200m Freestyle Relay team. Earlier in the year the Scot made his first senior international team at the inaugural European Games and he justified his selection superbly by winning three Golds and Three silvers on his way to returning as Great Britain’s most decorated athlete in Baku. At his home Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, the fledling teenager took part in the 4x100 and 4x200 Freestyle Relay finals, helping his team to Silver in the latter. #ILearnedtoSwim with Duncan Scott "My dad would take myself and my sister to the pool in Troon every Sunday where he would teach us how to swim. My first club was South Ayrshire and I joined because my sister did. My earliest memory is of my dad teaching me and sister how to float on our backs, the very basics of backstroke. I loved learning how to swim, Mike and Marie the two coaches at South Ayrshire Swimming club taught me well and got me to learn how to streamline."
