Quietly spoken STEPHEN MILNE may come across a little reserved but when it comes to middle distance events and his determined approach to training, his results speak volumes.

He's an Olympic and Commonwealth Games Silver medallist and a Gold medal-winner at World Championship at European Championship level. The epitome of a team player, Milne won Gold as part of the 4x200m Freestyle and Bronze with the Mixed 4x200m Freestyle Relay teams.

Stephen has performed well in individual events too, making the finals of the 400m Freestyle at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2016 European Championships and the the 800m Freestyle and 1500m Freestyle events at the 2015 World Championships (he also placed fourth in the latter at Glasgow 2014).

Stephen holds Scottish Records for 400m, 800m and 1500m Freestyle.

Stephen describes himself as an eco-warrior so perhaps it comes as no surprise that away from the pool Stephen is now studying towards a BSc in Environmental Science at Perth College, University of Highlands & Islands.

"When I was nine, I had a friend from school who was in the swimming club. He suggested that I tried to join in the swimming club's trials, then we could go to each other's house to play before going swimming in the evening. I decided I would give it a shot, and have kept it up ever since then. My first memories are from doing lessons in the very small pool at Perth when I first started to learn to swim. Then eventually, when I got more competent, after doing my lesson in the training pool I would jump into the Leisure pool to play with my dad and my brothers.
