Back A Rising Star:

CALUM TAIT's highest moment so far has been representing his country at its home games at Glasgow 2014. His first ever Commonwealth Games, Calum competed in the 200m Breaststroke and made the final, finishing fifth in the same race that fellow Scots Ross Murdoch and Michael Jamieson claimed Gold and Silver. He also competed at Gold Coast 2018, again making a final.

His profile increased significantly at the Scottish Gas National Short Course Championships in December 2013, when not only did he win the 200m Breaststroke title, he shaved over three seconds off his personal best boosting his confidence greatly ahead of the Commonwealth Games selection meets in April 2014.

Tait's other passion is still water-focused, but he lets the wind do the work in his favourite hobby of sailing. He's covered over 1500 offshore miles to the Faroe Islands and to St. Kilda. Back home he regularly sails on the River Forth, and is also trying to achieve a pilot's licence.

#ILearnedtoSwim with Calum Tait

"I joined because I used to watch my brother train and compete when I was younger. My earliest memory of learning to swim was diving down to retrieve the toys of the bottom of the pool which was my favourite part. My first club was Milngavie and Bearsden."
