CRAIG MCNALLY is an Edinburgh-born swimmer who first represented his country as a 17 year old at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and went on to represent Scotland again at Glasgow 2014 and Gold Coast 2018.

On the Gold Coast, Craig reached the finals of the 50m and 200m Backstroke and finished both events ranked seventh overall. He also assisted Team Scotland to a fourth-place finish in the 4x100m Medley Relay on the final night of competition.

For the Glasgow 2018 European Championships, Craig returned to a senior British team for the first time in five years in 2018 following his performances down under in Gold Coast.

He went in the 200m Backstroke event at the Glasgow 2018 European Championships but was unable to progress out of the heats due to the two per nation rule and ranked 18th overall.

Domestically, Craig claimed his first medal, a silver, in 2011 in the 50m Backstroke at the British Gas Swimming Championships. 2013 was a great year for Craig: he won gold in the 200m Backstroke at the British Gas Swimming Champions and then broke his own Scottish record at the World Championship final in Barcelona where he finished sixth. In 2015, McNally retained in British title.

#ILearnedtoSwim with Craig McNally

"I had always enjoyed swimming since finishing lessons and competing in school galas and knew that I had wanted to take it up competitively, but didn't do this until my friend joined Warrender and I followed him into the club shortly afterwards. I remember choking on water once and refusing to get back in the pool but needless to say I overcame it!"
