National Squad Opportunities

Over lockdown the Scottish Water Polo Committee (SWPC) have been working hard to develop an effective structure and pathway for athletes within the National Squad framework. With this in mind we have developed a new Recruitment Policy for all National Squad positions (Coaches & Team Managers) to ensure that all positions are appointed fairly and are adhering to the same high standards. This Recruitment Policy can be found in the attachments on this page.

We have also looked at how coaches are supported throughout the National Squads and we have identified the U19 Head Coaches (Boys & Girls) as pivotal roles to support this. The U19 Head Coaches will now be tasked with coordinating and supporting the other junior squad coaches and act as a link to the senior squads. These positions are also now going to include a mentoring aspect and should be supporting all coaches to ensure an effective pathway for all athletes across all of the age groups. The U19 coaches will do this through regular meetings for coaching staff and through representing the National Squad Coaches at Scottish Water Polo Committee meetings.

Lastly as part of this process and to align all National Squad positions we have taken the decision to advertise and reappoint all National Squad positions. The Job Descriptions for each can be found in the attachments on this page. We would encourage you all to make your coaches and volunteers aware of this fantastic opportunity to contribute towards the future development of the Scottish National Squads and apply for the positions that are available.

Positions include Head Coach, Assistant Coach & Team Manager for U14, U16, U19 & Senior (Male & Female) Squads.

The deadline to apply is Friday 21st May, 17:00 and interviews will be held over the following week(s) once interviewee availability is confirmed. If you are interested in applying please complete the below Google Form, here.

As SWPC we are incredibly excited about this opportunity to develop and grow our National Squads and we look forward to seeing all the applications.
