Have you ever thought of having a go at Open Water Swimming but not been sure where to go or how to start? Scottish Swimming, in partnership with Falkirk Community Trust and the Great Scottish Swim, are now offering the opportunity to give swimming in the open a try at the Helix Lagoon, while combining your session with a visit to the world-famous Kelpies, which are only a few metres away.

Scottish Swimming is offering complete beginners sessions, aimed at those who can swim but have never made the transition from pool to open water, as well as intermediate sessions, for those who are not so new to the sport but would like to develop their skills. They are open everyone over the age of 16 for only £5 on the 8 June 2014, times vary. Wetsuits are available for hire on the day for £15.

The sessions will be coach-led and held in a safe, supportive and fun environment and take place at the newly-opened Helix Lagoon in Falkirk, which was purpose built with open water swimming in mind. If you want to make it a day out, the park has loads to do, so bring friends and family with you. There are many cycle and walking paths, the Kelpies as well as the canal and the café. So why not come along and have a go at something new and refreshing!
