The Early Childhood Swim Teacher will cover the age range from 0-5, including Adult & Child and Preschool Swimming Lessons. In addition to developing knowledge of the fundamental principles that underpin child development, learners will also gain practical teaching techniques and games and activities, which will enhance learning and development. Thorough feedback and peer evaluation will ensure that Teachers will have the opportunity to develop their skills delivering in an Aquatic Environment. The qualification is internally accredited by Scottish Swimming and credit rated by SQA at SCQF Level 7 with 6 credit points. Course Prerequisite: * Age 17 years or over * Scottish Swimming Member* * Hold a current and valid Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate (SPC) * Hold a UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics qualification or approved equivalent Evidence of the above must be supplied at the point of course booking. Course Cost: £250 per learner Aims: On completion, teachers will have covered: * Supporting a holistic approach to child development through aquatics * Developing aquatic Early years swimming programs with progressive fun games and activities * Using fundamental Aquatic skills to support children's learning through play * Child centred approaches to Social and Emotional development within an aquatic environment * Developing positive relationships with Children and Adults Overview The purpose of the course is to enhance knowledge and standardise the current provision of delivery for Early Years. In addition to developing knowledge of the fundamental principles that underpin child development, learners will also gain practical teaching techniques, games and activities which will enhance learning and development. Thorough feedback and peer evaluation will ensure that Teachers will have the opportunity to develop their skills for delivering in an Aquatic Environment. The programme has been developed in consultation with specialists in child development to incorporate both enjoyment of an aquatic environment and ongoing development. Delivery and Assessment: The tutor led delivery takes place over 3 days and includes 2 hours of practical work per day. Learners are required to complete pre-course work and assessment tasks throughout the course. Practical teaching skills are assessed throughout the duration of the course and feedback is provided on an on-going basis.
