The 20-year old, who made his senior international debut at last year’s World Championships in Barcelona, made light work of an experienced field to claim victories in both 100m and 200m Breaststroke. After dominating the morning heats with a 2:14.73 effort, Murdoch sliced 1.45 seconds off his personal best to win the 200m Breaststroke in 2:12.15 on the opening night in Texas. Two days later, the Scot showed similar dominance over half the distance, leading the heats in 1:00.87 before returning to the top of the podium with a 1:00.58 effort in the final. Craig Benson also competed in the two breaststroke events, finishing seventh in the 100m Breast in 1:03.94 and 12th in the 200m Breast in 2:21.14. Benson’s Warrender teammate Craig McNally was the only other British ‘A’ finalist over the weekend, touching fifth in the 200m Backstroke in 1:59.73. McNally won the ‘B’ final to place ninth in the 100m Backstroke in 55.55 while Rob Bale was 12th in the 100m Freestyle in 51.25 and 18th in the 200m Freestyle in 1:53.27.
