I’d now love for the swimming community to get behind me and vote!" - Charlotte McKenzie Charlotte McKenzie is one of five young athletes to have been nominated by SportsAid Scotland for the ‘Up and Coming Scottish Sportsperson’ award to be announced at the Scottish Variety Awards Dinner in Glasgow on March 22nd. The talented 17-year old backstroke specialist who is coached by Steven Tigg at FIRST won silver at the FINA World Junior Championships in Dubai last year as part of the 4x100m medley relay team and has made an excellent start to 2014 with a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke at the Flanders Speedo Cup. Charlotte was informed of her nomination at the end of January and was delighted to have made the shortlist, saying: “This is such a huge honour for me and I’m thrilled that my efforts in the pool are being recognised. I’d now love for the swimming community to get behind me and vote! “Everything is about making the team for Glasgow this summer and I’m working really hard in training to make sure I do everything I can to get the result I want at the Trials in April.” The Scottish Variety Awards is now in its 6th year and recognises Scotland’s stars of the future.
