Scottish Swimming seek a Head Open Water Swim Coach

Scottish Swimming wish to appoint a voluntary head coach to lead on the training and development of the Scottish Open Water Development Squad (10 to 15 athletes) and Scottish Open Water Team (4 to 6 athletes).

In recent years, Scottish open water swimmers have achieved considerable success both in the UK, winning gold in half the age groups at the 2013 ASA Open Water Championships and internationally, with the Development Squad regularly medaling in rounds of the French Cup and the Scottish Team medalling at the International German Championships in 2013.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide expert advice to the Open Water Swimming Committee.  You will also have a role to liaise with the Performance Director with regard to British Swimming performance plans and their influence on Scottish plans. You will also be expected to attend the Scottish Open Water Swimming Championships and coach at a minimum of two training days to be held between May and September.

The successful candidate will be entitled to approved expenses in accordance with Scottish Swimming guidelines.  In addition, he/she will be funded by Scottish Swimming to undertake the Open Water CPD Module.  It is hoped to attract funding for the post in the future.

The successful candidate will be an experienced swimming coach (Coach Level 2 minimum) but specific experience in Open Water Swimming, though preferred, is not essential provided there is a willingness to become involved in the Open Water discipline and develop Scottish Swimmers at an international level.

This position will be subject to a satisfactory PVG check on appointment.

Scottish Swimming is committed to selecting volunteers solely on the basis of their ability to do the role for which they are being recruited, and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
