Bentley shuts out Scotland as South Africa claim first win

South Africa 23 -  Scotland 0 (7-0, 3-0, 9-0, 4-0)

South Africa were looking for a good performance after a disappointing result against England yesterday and they started as if they meant business.

Two goals each for Tay Schooling, Kelsey White and Kim Kay and one for Tammy Heydenrych gave them a 7-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Scotland in front of the home crowd couldn’t handle South Africans counter-attacking play and found goalkeeper Anke Jacobs in good form.

It got worse for Scotland as captain Gael Logan was majored out just before half time, meaning she would play no further part, with her team losing 10-0 at half time.

The second half saw much more of the same for the visitors, three penalties in the third quarter, all scored by Megan Parkes, Kelsey White and Claire Gorrie.

As well as the penalties, South Africa scored another six, giving them an impressive 19-0 lead at the end of third quarter.

The home crowd were urging Scotland forward wanting to see them score at least one goal but despite a number of attempts they were denied by Bentley again, South Africa winning 23-0.

Final Score- Scotland 0  -  South Africa  23
