Divers ready for 2014 Elite Juniors

Great Britain’s finest junior divers are preparing for their first major test of the season at this week’s British Gas Elite Junior Diving Championships 2014 in Plymouth 28-31 May.

This year's Elite Juniors throw up a number of intriguing clashes less than a month ahead of the British Gas Diving Championships in Sheffield.

Scottish athletes, James Heatly will be competing in the 1m, 3m and Synchro events and Gemma McArthur will be competing in the 10m Platform.

Click here to follow live results on Dive Recorder.City of Leeds’ Lydia Rosenthall will step up to the Group A category for the first time, having won a clean sweep of the Group B golds at this event last year before landing 3m Springboard silver in the same age group at the European Junior Championships.

Plymouth’s Francesca Del Celo will be the only defending champion in the girls’ Group A events as she aims to repeat her 3m Springboard gold from last year while teammate Shanice Lobb, who won European Junior bronze in the Group B 1m Springboard last season, will also step up an age group for the 1m Springboard and Platform events.

In the boys Group A events, City of Sheffield’s Ross Haslam will defend his Platform title and try his chances in the 3m Springboard while Jordan Houlden (City of Sheffield), Kyle Kothari (Crystal Palace) and Elliot Beeden (City of Sheffield) will all step up having won Group B medals last year.

City of Leeds’ Lois Toulson will be hoping to upgrade in the Group B age group after winning two silvers (3m Springboard, Platform) and a bronze (1m Springboard) 12 months ago while Plymouth’s Matthew Dixon has entered all three events in his first season as a Group B diver, having won the clean sweep in the Group C age group at this event last year.

Plymouth’s Victoria Vincent also claimed a Group C clean sweep 12 months ago but will only defend her Platform title at her home pool while City of Sheffield’s Owen Harrison is the only entry in the boys Group C events to have reached the podium at this event, having won 3m Springboard and Platform bronze in 2013.
