Strong Start for Scottish Swimmers at British International Meet

Record holders lead they way in the 50m Breaststroke qualifiers. Ross Murdoch, Scottish Record holder, touched in 28.19 to head into the final third fastest behind British Champion and long course record holder Adam Peaty (27.50) and British short course record holder Andrew Weatheritt (27.84).

World Championship finalists Craig McNally (2:02.20) and Georgia Davies (28.26) showed their strength in the backstroke events to lead qualifiers in the 200m and 50m Back respectively.

Meanwhile, it was Adam Barrett (53.78) who led the way with the fastest time in the 100m Butterfly and Stephen Milne (3:51.71) at the top of the 400m Freestyle qualifiers.

British SB14 record holders Scott Quin and Nicole Lough set the standard in the MC 100m Breaststroke heats as they led qualifiers, each within a second of their respective records.

Quin clocked 1:09.62 to progress on 879 points while Lough landed 919 points for her 1:19.05 effort.

British record holder Hannah Miley qualified just behind Siobhan-Marie O’Connor (2:11.12) in the 200m Individual Medley, clocking (2:12.38) to secure her spot in the final, alongside Danielle Lowe (2:13.87) who finished third fastest in the heats.

O'Connot set a personal best in the 100m Freestyle, ducking under 55 seconds for the first time to touch in 54.88 and progress ahead of Jessica Lloyd in 55.39 and Lauren Quigley’s PB 55.50.

Brazilian S10 swimmer Phelipe Rodrigues led the way in the MC 100m Freestyle heats with 868 points for his 53.33 while Steph Slater (S8) was on top of the women’s MC 100m Free qualifiers, scoring 897 points as she touched in 1:08.06.

Plymouth Leander and City of Manchester closed the session by leading qualifiers in the women’s and men’s Club 4x100m Medley Relay heats respectively.

Plymouth Leander’s quartet of Eliza Duffy (1:04.45), Ruta Meilutyte (1:08.36), Charlotte Atkinson (1:00.10) and Grace Vertigan (56.15) clocked 4:09.06 to take the touch in their heat.

The Manchester quartet of Sam Horrocks (56.73), Christopher Steeples (1:01.90), Thomas Paine (55.67) and Daniel Briggs (50.76) won their heat in 3:45.06 to book their spot in lane four for tomorrow’s final.
