Scots Set for Swimming Finale

The last night of competition in the pool is set to be a noisy affair with Hannah Miley, Kathleen Dawson, Dan Wallace and Stephen Milne contesting finals along with both the men and women’s 4x100m Medley Relay teams.

Hannah Miley makes her 7th final of the meet having qualified in the 400m freestyle with a season’s best time of 4:08.84. Caitlin McClatchey finished 12th overall in 4:15.36.

Dan Wallace made light work of his 200m Individual Medley heat coming home in 1:59.26, which makes him second fastest going into tonight’s final. After his race he said:

"It's the last night, I'm going to go back in there, enjoy it, and who knows, maybe I can pick up another medal."

16 year old Kathleen Dawson will contest the 50m backstroke final while Stephen Milne will want to add to the silver medal won in the 4x200m freestyle relay when he contests the 1500m freestyle final.

The quartet of Lucy Hope, Corrie Scott, Fiona Donnelly and Rachel Masson broke the Scottish Record in the 4x100m medley relay heats touching home in 4:09.17 and securing a place in the final, while in the men’s event Andrew McGovern, Craig Benson, Cameron Brodie and Jack Thorpe finished in 3:42.01 to also secure Scotland a place in the final.

The Swimming competition starts on Thursday 24 July and continues until Tuesday 29July, before the Aquatics Diving programme begins on Wednesday 30 July at the Royal Commonwealth Pool.
