Impressive Line-Up for Inaugural National Team Championships

“We wanted to create a team-based event and the National Team Championships will give swimmers the very rare opportunity to compete as a team," Scottish Swimming’s Performance Director, Ally Whike

Just two months after the excitement of the Commonwealth Games, swimming action returns to Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow with the inaugural Scottish National Team Championships, which take place on Saturday 27 September.

The Scottish Team Championships, supported by Glasgow Life, will be held in two sessions. Session 1 will comprise the Junior Team Championships, where swimmers aged 16 years and under representing the top Scottish teams from the 2014 National Age Group Championships will compete against each other for the title of Scottish Junior Team Champions. In Session 2 swimmers representing the top Scottish teams from the 2014 National Championships will compete for the title of Scottish Open Team Champions.

A wealth of talent will be on show with over 20 Team Scotland members competing for their respective clubs, including Gold medallists Hannah Miley and Ross Murdoch, 200m freestyle relay silver medallists, Robbie Renwick, Duncan Scott, Cameron Brodie and Jak Scott as well as 50m breaststroke bronze medallist, Corrie Scott.

With the event only a couple of days away, Scottish Swimming’s Performance Director, Ally Whike, explained the importance of the event,

“We wanted to create a team-based event and the National Team Championships will give swimmers the very rare opportunity to compete as a team. It also provides swimmers with the chance to get some early season head-to-head racing in. The event will feature many of Scotland’s top swimmers and will provide some exciting battles.”

  • Open Team Champs:      From 15:00
